Asphalt and metal can both be excellent roofing systems, but they optimize for different priorities. The best choice depends on budget, desired service life, appearance, roof geometry and the property itself.
Asphalt shingles
Shingles generally have a lower initial project cost, a familiar residential appearance and a broad range of colours and profiles. Cheshire currently installs IKO Dynasty shingles.
Metal roofing
Metal generally carries a higher initial cost but can offer long service life, strong weather performance and a distinctive appearance.
The installation matters either way
A premium material cannot compensate for poor flashing, incorrect fastening, weak underlayment details or inadequate ventilation.
